IOT for School Zone Safety Signs

Since 2009, Digital Telemetry Ltd has been using the IOT (internet-of-things) to manage, control, schedule and monitor road signs.

What am I seeing?

This is the control panel for a school's electronic safety signs. These signs will activate before and after school: reliably, only on school days, and at the precise times specified.

You are in control!

You have access to the scheduling information shown. The schedule supports many advanced features, and is much more than just a simple timer. You need a controller that understands every school is unique, and:

• lets you define your school term dates
• lets you define on/off times for each day of the week
• respects national and local holidays automatically
• adapts to daylight savings automatically
• lets you define teacher-only days

Special Events support times when the signs would normally be off; but you need them activated: school fairs, mid-day athletic events, etc.

Multi-level Access

Different people require access to different features. School office staff can manage schedules. Maintenance contractors and roading authorities can:

• view battery voltage graphs
• manage schedules
• turn signs on/off while on site (for testing changes)

Radar Speed Data

Many (not all) school zone signs are equipped with speed radar. If equipped, you can view the vehicle speed data collected: see the Radar Speed Data page.

Vendor Agnostic

The Digital Telemetry controllers are an optional upgrade to signs purchased from your selected vendor (we do not supply the physical signs themselves). The controller has been designed to integrate into multiple venders. Signs from Aspect Solutions Ltd are explicitly supported and widely deployed. Contact Us for information about other vendors.
